Prairie Home, in collaboration with Holland America, decided to make some small changes to the itinerary so that our guests may have more shore excursion options and opportunities to explore beautiful Norge. Please note changes to days, 2, 5, 6 and 7 below.
	Set Sail from Copenhagen, Denmark Denmark's capital is sophisticated, saucy and friendly. Stroll the fairytale world of Tivoli Gardens to take in bright lights and castles that out-Disney Disney. See the city's 200-year-old Royal Palace and the lively Old Harbor, and visit the Little Mermaid, symbol of this light-hearted city where Hans Christian Andersen made his home. Depart: 6:00pm
	Day 1: At Sea
	Day 2: We will visit Flåm, at which time passengers may choose to disembark and make their choice of excursions through the countryside. Some shore excursions may continue on land and will meet up with the ship later in the day in Vik i Sogn. Meanwhile the Veendam will cruise Sognefjord, eventually making port at Vik i Sogn. Day 2: Flåm, Norway Those choosing to explore the countryside may take a thrilling, cliffhanger train ride from sea level to the lofty mountain heights above or Cruise Sognefjord, King of the Fjords. Villages and terraced farms line the slopes above dramatic waterways. Arrive: 7:00am Depart: 2:00pm Day 2: Vik i Sogn, Norway Vik, nestled on a bay of the Sognefjord, features a 12th-century stave church where Christian architecture meets Nordic paganism, and neither has quite given up the notion of winning the other over. Behind the village, mountains rise rapidly for spectacular views of the fjord, the village, and the surroundings. 	Day 3: Ålesund Ålesund is a seaport in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway, noted for its unique architecture. The surroundings of Ålesund offer diverse scenery, birding and fishing opportunities, and wonderful walks — both arduous and easy. Arrive: 8:00am Depart: 6:00pm
	Day 4: Trondheim Founded in 997, Trondheim lies in the county of Sør-Trøndelag. It is Norway's third largest city and is home to 30,000 students as center of education, and technical and medical research. Visit the cathedral of Trondheim - Nidaros Cathedral - the northernmost medieval cathedral in the world, and the largest in Scandinavia. Salmon fishing is popular here, and so is hiking on one of the several nearby mountain ranges. Arrive: 7:00am Depart: 4:00pm
	Day 4, Scenic Cruising: Trondheimfjord The Trondheimfjord (Trondheimsfjorden), an inlet of the Norwegian Sea, is Norway's third longest fjord at 130 km long. The fjord's maximum depth is 617 meters, and it remains ice-free all year. Trondheimfjord has a rich marine life, with more fish species than any other fjord in Norway. Several of the best salmon rivers in Norway empty into Trondheimfjord.
	Day 5: Norwegian Inside Passage Similar to Day 2, the Veendam will stop at Geiranger, after which time passengers may choose to disembark and make their choice of excursions through the countryside. After departing Geiranger, the ship will cruise Geirangerfjord, eventually making port at Hellesylt. Here our land travelers will meet up with the ship. Day 5: Geiranger, Norway Geiranger is a picturesque fjord town nestled in a crook of the winding Geirangerfjord. Nearby, the Seven Sisters Waterfall takes a 5,000-foot plunge. Geiranger is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world with its majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, beautiful and wild waterfalls, lush vegetation, and the deep blue waters of the fjord itself. 	Day 5: Geirangerfjord The Geirangerfjord (Geirangerfjorden) is a fjord in the region Sunnmøre which is located southernmost in the county Møre og Romsdal in Norway. It is a 15-kilometer long branch of Storfjord and one of Norway's most visited tourist sites. Innermost in the fjord lies the small town of Geiranger, and a number of now-abandoned farms rest here and there along the fjord.
	Day 5: Hellesylt, Norway Tiny Hellesylt, at the tip of Sunnylvenfjord, is a small village in the Stranda Municipality, a part of the Møre and Romsdal County in the western part of Norway. The site of the village on the mountainsides at the end of the Sunnylvs Fjord is exceptionally picturesque. Right through the center, the Hellesylt waterfall gushes down into the Fjord, one of the most photographed sites in Norway. 	Day 6: Bergen Bergen is recognized as the unofficial capital of the region known as West Norway, and as the gateway city to the world famous fjords of Norway. It has become Norway's largest-and one of Europe's largest-cruise ship ports of call. The Saint Mary Church is the oldest building in Bergen, parts of it dating from around 1130. 	Day 7: Kristiansand Kristiansand was founded by King Christian IV, who in 1641 said the famous words "Here the town shall stand." It was created as a market town to encourage growth in this area of strategic significance, providing a local economic base for construction of fortifications and population for defense of the area. Visit the zoological garden, Kristiansand Dyrepark, just east of the city where you'll find a wide selection of animals in natural habitats. 	Days 8 and 9: Oslo, Norway At the head of Oslofjord, Norway's handsome capital is the logical first stop in Scandinavia. Thor Heyerdahl's raft, Kon Tiki, recalls a voyage between Easter Island and Tahiti to prove a theory about the earliest colonization of Oceania. Watch the changing of the palace guard and ferry to the open-air Folke Museum with its 12th-century stave church. After cruising the long passage into Oslo, we will dock for the night so that passengers may enjoy the capital city. We will spend the night aboard the ship and head "home" to Copenhagen the next day. Arrive: 9:00am Depart: 12:00pm following day
