Listening to tales in the dark twilight Imaginations are set into drive, Like a flick of a switch to turn on the light. What's not really there becomes alive; Stalking us, emulating our darkest fear And creating a warped reality. It haunts our every move, Like the shadowy wolves hunting a deer. They come at night, depriving us of what soothes Our mind and body. And in the daytime, they are there, trying to hide In your own mind. As you wait, you try To find ways to keep it out of mind But slowly, as night falls, it begins to pry Into your imagination. It comes back again, ready to scare You into submission. The night has come. The twilight?s sepia hue Has fallen over everything in sight. Terror?s silhouette comes into an obscure view That cannot be revealed until the morning light. But tonight, it is quietly waiting Letting your fear take the wheel as It sits there, anticipating Its next strike. But, suddenly, the voice of reason turns The light on. And the creature is nothing More than a tiny worm That sits there, all wriggly and disgusting. Soon after Reason comes Shame And fills the mind with mirth. It shows you there is no one to blame But yourself. Your mind gave birth To Sheer Terror.
