Last Week's Show // April 12, 2014
Coming to you this week from The Town Hall in New York City, it's a live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. With special guests, soprano Maria Jette and pianist and accordionist Dan Chouinard, our friends Robin and Linda Williams, and classical pianist Stephen Hough. Plus, the Royal Academy of Radio Actors, Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and Fred Newman, musical director Richard Dworsky with Richard Kriehn on mandolin and fiddle, David Finck on bass, Kevin Kuhn on guitar, and Ray Marchica on drums, and the latest News from Lake Wobegon.
Lovingly selected from the earliest archives of A Prairie Home Companion, this heirloom collection represents the music from earliest years of the now legendary show: 1974–1976. With songs and tunes from jazz pianist Butch Thompson, mandolin maestro Peter Ostroushko, Dakota Dave Hull and the first house band, The Powdermilk Biscuit Band (Adam Granger, Bob Douglas and Mary DuShane).
