Matanuska Girls

MATANUSKA GIRLS Well, Homer girls are hip, I really dig that herbal tea
And the Fairbanks girls collect oil drums
And spend the winter in their RV's.
The Barrow girls live in the dark so they always mystify,
And the Juneau girls are forever young
Cause their skin does not get dry,
I wish they all could be Matanuska girls.

Matanuska girls can run a snowmachine all day,
But they also know a French Bordeaux
From a domestic Cabernet.
They hunt the moose and bear
And bring them back in from the wild,
And dress the meat and serve it up
In a dish by Julia Child.
I wish they all could be Matanuska girls.

Matanuska girls can name every tree and every rock,
They're also smart about great art
Like Picasso and George Braque,
They can use an axe or welding torch with maximum finesse
And then look great on a dinner date
In a black Armani dress.
I wish they all could be Matanuska girls.

They're earthy and they're subtle and they're funny and profound,
They've got their dreams and yet it seems
They got their boots on solid ground.
They do quite well in darkness and in steady rain or snow,
And they do real fine in the warm sunshine,
They can make your garden grow.
I wish they all could be Matanuska girls.
