American Hunting Association SS: I was thinking it'd be nice to go to more concerts this fall - it seems like we never go to hear music anymore - did you see that the Early Music Consort is doing a program of 17th Century English courtship music at the college Saturday night? TR: No, I didn't. SS: It was in the paper - they're doing a whole suite of airs and dances for soprano and lute and viols. And there's a countertenor. Would you like to go? TR: What night? SS: Saturday night. TR: Oh. SS: Is that okay? TR: Sure. SS: I just thought it'd be nice to get out of the house. Maybe we could go out to dinner afterward. We could ask Annette and her husband. The poet. TR: Right. SS: It's the first concert in a series - Echoes of the Renaissance. We could go to that little vegetarian place that just opened, Leaves of Grass. I've heard they make a wonderful beet and ginger soup. TR: Good. Let's go. SS: Well you don't sound very enthused about it. TR: It's fine. SS: I thought you liked Renaissance music. You used to. TR: It's fine. If you want to go, let's go. SS: Well, I don't want to drag you off to something you hate. TR: It's okay. SS: Would you rather go to the poetry reading by - TR: No. SS: So you want to go hear the Early Music Consort? TR: Sure. SS: Good. Do you think I should wear my hair up or down? To the concert - Which way do you like it? TR: I like it both ways. SS: Which do you like better? TR: They're both good. SS: Which way? Up or down? TR: I guess down. SS: Oh. Are you sure? TR: Up is good, too. I like up. SS: You're just saying that. TR: No, I do. I like up. SS: Okay, I'll wear it up, if that's what you want. TR: Good. SS: But why didn't you say so in the first place? TR: Well - SS: By the way, do you notice anything different about my hair? TR: Different about your hair? SS: Yes. TR: Now? (THREE BEATS) It's up? SS: I mean, the color. TR: Is it lighter? SS: It's darker ... TR: Darker! Right. SS: I had it dyed auburn. TR: Oh, sure. That's nice. I like that. SS: You didn't even notice. TR: I knew something was different. SS: What else is different about me? TR: (TWO BEATS) Is it above your waist or below? SS: Just look. You'll see. Notice anything? (CHORD) TR (ANNC): Why Men Go Deer Hunting ... because when you're out in the woods with the guys, you're having a good time (TK: Have a beer. OPEN POP-TOP. TR: Thanks. TK: No problem. How about another brat?), you're sitting around the woodstove at the shack and shooting the breeze and no guy ever asks you ... (TK: Do you like my hair this way?)
