Listen

It wasn't a very good year
But you and I are still here, my dear,
So cheers. We can afford that much,
Some music, some jokes, the human touch.
It was a dreadful year, on the whole.
War and the darkness of the soul,
Factories closing, farms and towns,
And the heart is broken, dear friends of New York,
By the girl who was kidnapped in Grand Forks
Two months ago and hasn't been found.
The darkness is deep, and the prairie is wide,
God will lead and God provide,
The night is cold, we have miles to go,
All the more reason to do a show.
