Listen
(To the tune of "Railroad Bill")
Nickel Creek, Nickel Creek,
In bluegrass music they're unique
Hey hey hey
They play bluegrass like Bill Monroe,
But they do it without banjo.
Hey hey hey
They been playing since before they could speak
And now they are superstars, Nickel Creek
Hey hey hey
They're bluegrass stars like Allison Krauss,
They come to town, they fill the house
Hey hey hey
We drive a van in need of repairs,
They've got a jet with reclining chairs
Hey hey hey
Our bandwe're amateurs really
They got Sara Watkins and Chris Thile
Hey hey hey
Our band stays at Econo-Lodge
They're at the Ritz drinking high-priced scotch.
Hey hey hey
We don't gossip about the stars,
How they hire roadies to tune their guitars
Hey hey hey
How they lie about their age
How they lip-synch when they're onstage
Hey hey hey
The time in jail they don't like to discuss,
The big lawsuit, you didn't hear it from us.
Hey hey hey
Nickel Creek, Nickel Creek,
In bluegrass music they're unique
Hey hey hey

The soundtrack to Robert Altman's take on Garrison Keillor's radio show features 25 songs. If you are an avid A Prairie Home Companion listener, you know what to expect: a delightful mix of music and fun by APHC regulars including the Guy's All Star Shoe Band, Robin & Linda Williams and Jearlyn Steele, among others, plus some amazing music by a diverse slate of guest performers. Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin duet as the singing Johnson sisters on "My Minnesota Home" and "Goodbye to my Mama." Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly appear as Dusty and Lefty, the singing cowboys, and warble "Whoopi Ti Yi Yo" and the crowd pleasing but crusty song "Bad Jokes." Lindsay Lohan delivers "Frankie and Johnny".
