GK: After a word about coffee...

If you find that you're talking fast. (QUICK GIBBERISH, OFF) Your heartrate seems elevated (FAST HEARTBEAT). You live life at an accelerated pace. (FAST FOOTSTEPS, DOOR OPEN, CLOSE. FAST FOOTSTEPS. DOOR OPEN. PHONE RING. PICKUP. FAST GIBBERISH, HANG UP) And you keep dropping things. (GLASS CRASH) You watch TV and (SERIES OF TV AUDIOS — TENNIS, INTIMATE DIALOGUE, NEWS, AUTO RACING, WITH CLICKS IN BETWEEN) you watch a few seconds of forty different shows. You can't sleep at night (CLOCK TICKS). And you have to go for long walks at night to try to wind down (FAST FOOTSTEPS, DOG BARKS) and you wind up in a bad neighborhood (SIREN) and it makes you jittery and you start running (RUNNING FOOTSTEPS) and before you know it the cops are chasing you (COP SHOUTS) and you're handcuffed (SFX) and off to the hoosegow you go (STEEL DOORS SLAM SHUT) — maybe the problem is coffee. Maybe you are addicted to caffeine. But it's not the worst addiction you could have. This woman is addicted to organic herbal tea. (SS: SLOW AIMLESS VOCAL SLIGHTLY FLAT) It takes her an hour just to get focused in the morning. By noon she's fed her cats and done yoga and written in her journal and that's it...

GK: Meanwhile, you, Java Man (QUICK GIBBERISH, PHONE RING AND PICKUP, QUICK GIBBERISH, HANG UP) have made deals, solved problems, scoped out the situation, and you're moving rapidly (CAR ACCEL THROUGH GEARS), making tracks, getting somewhere, thanks to coffee, while she, Miss Chamomile (SS: SLOW VOCAL), is still watering her plants. — Surely here are two persons who should never try to form a partnership. They would tear each other from limb to limb. One more reason why — for a first date — you ought to ask her to go out for coffee.

SS: Well, I don't know. I don't usually drink coffee. Don't they have herbal tea?

TK: You don't want herbal tea. Nobody drinks that anymore. That is so Nineties.

SS: I don't know. Coffee just makes me sort of— hyper.

TK: Go for it. It's legal, it's wakes you up, and that's what it's there for. Just drink it already.

(COFFEE THEME)

GK (SING): Smells so lovely when you pour it you will want to drink a quart of coffee
It's delicious all alone it's also good with doughnuts, black coffee
It will give you better diction
You can make it in the kitchen
It can help you write your fiction
And will lead to an addiction
Have a whole pot anyway and I'm sure you'll say it's worth it—good coffee.
